Youth Baseball Development: Tips for Helping Your Child Succeed

As a parent of a young baseball player, you want to do everything you can to help your child succeed on the field. But with so many different approaches to baseball development, it can be hard to know where to start.

Here are a few tips to help guide your child’s development as a baseball player:

  1. Focus on the basics. Young players should start by learning the basic skills of the game, such as throwing, catching, and hitting. These skills are the foundation upon which all other skills are built, so it’s important to master them early on.
  2. Encourage practice. The more your child practices, the better they will become. Make sure to set aside time for regular practice sessions, whether it’s at home or at the park.
  3. Emphasize proper technique. As your child begins to learn more advanced skills, it’s important to make sure they are using proper technique. This will help them avoid bad habits and injuries, and will set them up for success as they grow older.
  4. Provide positive feedback. Positive feedback is an essential part of youth baseball development. Encourage your child to keep working hard and remind them of their accomplishments.
  5. Foster a love of the game. Above all, it’s important to remember that baseball is a game. Encourage your child to have fun and enjoy the experience, rather than putting too much pressure on them to win.

By following these tips, you can help your child develop the skills they need to succeed on the field while also fostering a love of the game that will last a lifetime.

Axe Bat is now the Official Bat of the Lithia Springs Phillies Baseball Club

Axe Bat is the Official Bat of the Lithia Springs Phillies

Today, we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Axe Bat. Are you familiar with Axe? They’re a family owned company near Seattle obsessed with making a better baseball bat. In fact, their mission is to make the world’s best bat for your swing. They’ve designed a handle, which they’ve patented, that looks very much like what you might see on a common ax, but has been engineered to support the biomechanics of the swing. Not only does it offer a better grip, it allows hitters to swing faster with more barrel control. Over time, that means harder, more consistent contact.

Lots of MLB players already have switched to this style. Mookie Betts and George Springer are two of the more prominent, but more than 100 others have used it in games since 2015. Additionally, most of the top 25 college baseball teams are using Axe Bat’s Speed Trainers for improving bat speed in their player development programs.

In partnering with Axe Bat, we will have the opportunity to demo all of their new game and training products, participate in their bat-fitting sessions to fit hitters to an optimal bat and handle type, and receive exclusive discounts on Axe Bat game and training products year round.

This is an exciting partnership for us as it aligns with our view of where the game is headed and how best to develop players using the latest tools and technologies.

Importance of Playing Catch

Baseball in its simplest form is broken down into 4 phases; Hitting, Pitching, Catching and Running. While we understand that all phases of the game are important, we always stress the importance of playing catch to our players. Especially at the younger ages, the kids that are able to consistently catch will have the most confidence and comfort playing the game.

Look out on any youth field and you can quickly identify the players and teams that work diligently on building their ability to catch. Good defense and stout pitching will always travel well. You can’t be a good defensive team or player if you can’t catch the ball.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">PLAYING CATCH is the most important fundamental skill of the game.
